A true island escape

Sitting on the highest point allowed on the hill and overlooking the bay of Layan Beach is the late Indonesian designer Jaya Ibrahim’s last architecture masterpiece known as Villa Similan.

Villa Similan is one of 15 luxury villas in Layan Residences by Anantara, a branded residential development. The owner of that gorgeous villa is none other than William E. Heinecke, founder of Minor Group. Heinecke owns some of the most beautiful hotels in the world and knows how real luxury looks. He translates it superbly well in this island getaway that dominates incredible vistas of the sea and jungle, perfectly situated to enjoy sunsets as well.

The design is contemporary, with clean and beautiful straight lines, and has been constructed to maximize optimal views. The use of massive windows gives a sense of being outside and also supplying the villa with beautiful natural light. The living room, dining, master and one of the guest bedroom stand alone which allow you to enjoy the great weather that Phuket offers. Some rooms have been specifically allocated to acclaimed interior designers such as Hans Brouwer who designed the gym, game room, spa and private cinema and Karl Princic of Intaran Design who designed the exterior landscape.

The villa of 3,600 sqm is so complete that one never has to leave the residence. It boasts 8 spacious bedrooms with en-suites luxurious bathrooms, living area and dining space separately with superb sea views. Outside you will find a covered sala on the roof with an unobstructed vista perfect to enjoy sunsets. Additionally there is a spa and massage room with a Jacuzzi hidden in a small grotto-like niche, a fully-equipped gym, a cinema room with lush sofas and popcorn machine, a “man cave” filled with books and games, alongside an antique custom Thai billiards table and a bar corner, and even a huge wine room with a collection of some of the most famous, unique and sought-after wines!

Let’s not forget the 22-meter long infinity pool facing Koh Kata, with integrated swim jets and massage jets, a large terrace deck with lounge chairs and dining area, complemented by a rooftop terrace where the sala is located to offer commanding views of the villa and the bay.

The entire villa has been decorated with incredible taste, thanks to Kathy Heinecke, a former art dealer, who has collected artifacts and antiques during years of travelling around the world with her husband. Some of the objects range from indigenous sculptural pieces from Papua New Guinea and South America, to paintings from famous local artists such as Khun Thawan Duchanee.

The best part of all this is that the villa is available for rent. With 8 bedrooms, the residence is ideal for family vacations or for large groups.

Would you like to live like a millionaire? Now it’s possible to live the lifestyle of William Heinecke!
